Due to the increased enrollments in the Parramatta area there was a need to provide increased capacity for the local public Schools. To assist in providing this capacity before permanent buildings could be completed ProGroup Management was engaged to construct a series of two storey structures within the grounds of the Rowland Hassall School which would also relieve the accommodation pressure for a nearby School. The building was to constructed using single demountable units and to be fitted with an external lift for disability access. Construction commenced in November 2016 and was to be completed, commissioned and handed over ready for the start of school in the new year of 2017.
The project involved the installation of 64 singular modules making up the 4 separate two storey buildings. The Lift was installed externally to one of the buildings allowing the disabled access to all buildings and classrooms via the enclosed and weather protected walkways that joined the buildings.A Disabled toilet was also installed on the lower level. The individual modules were delivered to site singularly and then put together in a predetermined order to ensure the prefabricated walkways and stairwells joined. From the outset a challenge was presented to the Project team of restricted access from the busy street frontages in the heart of the busy Parramatta commercial hub. Combined with this was the restricted and small construction area contained within a fully functional and working school for the initial site works to be completed. The entire project was completed, commissioned and handed over on time, safely and within budget to the satisfaction of School Infrastructure NSW.
